Living in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia with such a diverse fusion of people you can actually travel through your own community as if you were on vacation in another country!

Looking for something to do in April? One of the greatest things to experience is the Culture and Celebrations of India. Why not see and enjoy the Vaisakhi Days Celebration in Surrey BC? Most of the food and events are free. The Carnival rides can be enjoyed at the lowest price of the year!

For many thousands of years, “Vaisakhi” (pronounced Vah-sack-ee) has been the time when farmers have brought in their harvest and celebrated the coming of a new year and a new harvest season. For the last 300+ years, the Sikhs have had a further reason to celebrate at this time of the year. Vaisakhi has become a holy day to mark the birth of the Khalsa fraternity.

For the last decade the Dasmesh Darbar Temple in Surrey BC hosts Shooting Star Amusements’ Carnival Rides in celebration of Vaisakhi! These Carnival Rides can be enjoyed in Surrey, British Columbia at the Dasmesh Darbar Temple April 12th through April 22nd. Celebrate Vaisakhi with a view from the top of the Ferris Wheel.

People come out to do “seva” (religious work) such as giving out free food and completing any other labour needed to be done. In Surrey, the parade route is filled with people giving out free food and drinks, and treats. You can enjoy free Indian food inside and outside the Temple! Everyone is welcome to enjoy the Carnival rides at the lowest prices of the year!

The Surrey Vaisakhi Parade is the largest parade in Canada. It covers an area of several square miles. Many of the people, who come to this event, walk this parade route which generally takes several hours.

Please join us for this wonderful cultural event in celebration of Vaisakhi. We would like to thank the Volunteers in advance for all the effort and time they contribute to make this event possible. We all enjoy sampling the delicious free food which is offered by the generosity of many people in the community.

TIP: To avoid the Popular Ride Line ups – enjoy the carnival rides for ten days in Surrey in April before, after and during Vaisakhi!
