Lumby Days 2018 – Mardi Gras

Celebrate Mardi Gras Lumby, British Columbia style! Lumby Days starts from Friday, June 8th, to Sunday, June 10th.  

Enjoy food, live entertainment, thrash wrestling, and lots of games, fun activities and rides! We’re offering the cheapest wristbands in town for $35 per person (visit our Lumby Days event page for special discounts off wristbands).

 

Mardis Gras celebrations historically originate from New Orleans, LA, USA!

We’ll be celebrating the amazing energy of Mardis Gras with music, food, fun perfect for all the family!

Admission is free at the gate, you’re welcome to enjoy the entertainment and carnival atmosphere for free!

Bring the children along to participate in crafts, including mask making completions!

Where is Lumby Located?

The Village of Lumby is situated 25km east of Vernon in the beautiful North Okanagan. North Okanagan is situated in the province of British Columbia, Canada.

Lumby is easily reached by car from the West Coast. The easiest route is through Coquihalla highway from Vancouver to Merritt (Route 5), then Meritt to Kelowna (Route 97), then on to Vernon (Highway 97) and then on Highway 6 to Lumby which is on the east.

If you are travelling by air, the nearest international airport is in Kelowna which is 40 minutes away from Lumby.

What is the Schedule for Carnival Events this year?

The carnival events will start on June 8, 2018 (at 3pm) and will end on June 10, 2018 which means a whole weekend full of fun, entertainment, and rides.

Friday, June 8, 2018 will mark the beginning of the celebrations at 3 pm.

Events: Food Row, Lions Beverage Garden, Live Entertainment at Festival Stage in Park Oval, Barefoot Sanctuary Fire Dance at Stage.

Special Attractions for the Day: Thrash Wrestling

For whom: all the members of the family

Get ready for an action packed evening on Friday and Saturday at 7pm. The top notch pro wrestlers will entertain all the members of the family with their suplexes, body slams, high flying moonsaults, powerbombs and many more things.

Saturday, June 9, 2018 and Sunday, June 10, 2018 the celebrations will start in the morning at 7 am.

Events: Fire arm and antiques show, Hand gliders and paragliders, School silent Auction and activities, School Silent Auction and Activities, N.O. Model Rail/Road Display, Monashee Arts Council Showcase, Lumby Museum Viewing, Vernon Flying Club, and Laughing Loggers, Organizational Fair, Outdoor Church Service, Gold Fox Acres Petting Zoo, Gold panning Vernon Placer Miners, Car Show and Shine, Face painting with Krystal, Shuswap pioneer Collection.

Special Attractions: Parade, Valhalla Helicopters, Extreme Freestyle Motocross, Show and Shine, Food Row and out door vendors, Shooting Star Amusements.

 

  • Shooting Star Amusements: Shooting Star can guarantee whole day of enjoyment and entertainment! We have fun rides and an entertainment galore under the guidance of professional staff. You can ride all days (8th to 10th June) with just one very affordable price!

  • Parade: The most awaited event of the festival every year! The parade this year will start at 11 am on Saturday from the industrial park east of Lumby, heading down Highway 6, turning to Shuswap Ave., heading north at the traffic light, turning right on Maple Street, then right on Shield Avenue. 

Don’t be late as the Vernon Flying team is scheduled for a fly over before the parade!

  • Valhalla Helicopters: Enjoy a 10 minute sightseeing in a Bell 260 helicopter and get an experience for your whole life.
  • Cost: $60 per person
  • Cost for a Doors off experience: $75 per person
  • Time & Place: 12.30 pm on Saturday and Sunday afternoon from Royal’s Park which is adjacent to Lumby Park Oval and Lumby Days activities.
  • Extreme Freestyle Motocross: A thrilling and breathtaking event for all the members of the family. The riders will hit the ramp at 1:30 PM on Saturday and 3.15 and 4.45 pm on Sunday. They will be jumping at approx 12:30 PM – 2:00 and 3:30 PM if the weather permits. How can you miss the chance to experience these actions?
  • Show & Shine: In a large grassy area with many shade trees and picnic tables, you can showcase your precious cars, trucks and motorcycles. This event is known as one of the best shows in the area.

  • Food Row and Outdoor Vendors: Any event is incomplete without some delicious food. We don’t want you to feel incomplete and therefore have arranged food of all variety. There is everything from Hamburgers, Fish and Chips, Mini Donuts, Fresh Fruit Drinks, Cappuccinos, Chicken, Lemonade, Donair, Pancakes, Pies, Ice creams, Perogies and many more.
