Summer Fun at Hope Brigade Days 2019

hope brigade days 2019

Hope Brigade’s 3-day-event is just around the corner. If you want to take part in the festivities, get ready to feel the heat and make the most of summer before it ends.

History of Hope, BC and Hope Brigade Days

Brigade Days History dates back to 1848 when the Hudson Bay Company strengthened the links of communication between BC and its coastal areas. Fort Hope and Fort Yale were then founded by the Hudson Bay fur brigades for outpost use.

In 1928, Fort Hope became the Village of Hope after 80 years. Another 40 years to be designated as the Town of Hope in 1968 when Hope Brigade Days started.

When Hope became known and tourism grew in this part of BC, it finally became the District Municipality of Hope in 1993 amalgamating with other outlying areas of the region.

Fast forward to the present day and Hope commemorates its pioneering days through an annual celebration just before summer ends. It started out as just a community event to celebrate the end of a tourist season and has now evolved into a bigger event each year.

With its 6,181 population in 2016 (and increasing thereafter), Hope is known for its peaceful community which makes it a tourist must-visit each summer.
