More Festival Fun

So does watching the Extreme Freestyle Motocross Riders as they perform breathtaking stunts. There’s even more fun Friday and Saturday nights with the Thrash Wrestlers!

You can even take a helicopter ride or go see the glider races staged by the local flying club.

Aside from Shooting Star’s Midway rides and games, there will be a Kids Zone for the young’uns on Saturday and Sunday, featuring entertainers, face painting, crafts and more.

There will be something for everyone at Lumby Days. Across all three days, there will be almost non-stop live music. Come enjoy local food, arts, crafts, vendors, a car show, silent auctions, gardening exhibits and contests, a gun and antique show, and an outstanding display of antique farm equipment by the Shuswap Pioneers Collectors Club.

Air Show and Parade!

On Friday, keep an eye on the skies all day long – the Lumby Air Force will be out doing their thing!

The parade is on Saturday, at 11 AM, preceded by a flyover by the Vernon Flying Team. It starts on Highway 6 near the intersection with Morris St, then goes north along Shuswap Ave, then turns onto Maple St. Be aware that people stake out their viewing spots early for this. If you’re there early enough, duck in to the health food store or Jitterbeans for a seat out of the heat.

Community Pride

Lumby is a beautiful mountain community and a great place to be. Come stay the week either before or after the festival. In summer, the community gathers every Wednesday night for music in the park, while one of the many local markets happens right next store at the Arbor Mall. On weekdays there is the Lumby Thrift Store, selling everything from books to antiques. The thrift store supports the food bank and several other local charities, including school breakfast programs. Within the mall is the co-op, where you can find local goods from art to soap to organic foods and teas.

Other Fun in Lumby

June and throughout summer is an outstanding time. Go panning for gold in this old gold rush area.

Check out how the Lumby and district historical society preserves and displays local historical artifacts and documentation.

The Lumby Museum remains a lasting and well supported fixture of the community, and even includes an extensive outdoor display of large agricultural and forestry machinery.

There’s a new splash park for the kids.

For the bigger kids, there’s great mountain golfing, motorcross, paragliding, hiking, you name it.

So come down to Lumby – not only because of the carnival – but because it’s a spectacular place to be.
