Salmon Arm Has It All Throughout The Summer

Halfway between Vancouver and Calgary nestles what just may be BC’s ideal place for summer: Salmon Arm. Located at the mouth of the Salmon River as it flows into Shuswap Lake, the town and surrounding area has everything: beaches, houseboats, waterskiing, fishing, camping, hiking, hotels, art, golf, dining, shopping and, of course, the annual Salmon Arm Fair.

Everyone Loves the Shuswap

After a simple and gorgeous roadtrip, or an easy flight, suddenly the great Shuswap Lake comes into view. This stunning visual backdrop continues for miles and is a Mecca for vacationing families. If you live in BC, no doubt you know several people who head here every summer to go boating on the Shuswap. After all, Salmon Arm has gorgeous summer weather that isn’t as hot as the Okanagan. From Canada Day past Labour Day, people flock to Shuswap Lake with their boats, trailers and motorhomes.

In Salmon Arm itself, there are glorious beaches like Sunnybrae and Canoe, ideal for families.

And as you head out along the lake’s edge, there are tons of places renting out what many people see as the Shuswap’s trademark: houseboats. There are no words to describe a weeklong houseboating vacation and watching the sunset each night over the lake and mountains.
