Salmon Arm Fair 2017 – Something to Crow About Indeed

salmon arm fall fairIf you think summer is over and that’s it with the kids going back to school, think again! September is the BEST time for a fair – especially in the sensational Shuswap region of BC’s Okanagan.

As the saying goes, if you got it, flaunt it. For 120 years, the Salmon Arm Fall Fair has proven it has plenty to flaunt and 2017’s spectacular fair is no exception! The theme this year is ‘Something to Crow About’ and we think that’s perfect.

That first week of school doesn’t involve much work for the kids, so give them one more bit of vacation fun. Head to Salmon Arm from September 8th to 10th and see for yourself. This annual fair brings the people of the Okanagan-Shuswap region together to celebrate the community, enjoy the scrumptious harvest, show off local talent, and have loads of fun.

Be Where the Action Is

Head to the corner of 3rd Street SW and 5th Avenue SW Salmon Arm for three days of outstanding fun from Friday September 8th to Sunday September 10th. Here’s a Google map of the address and here’s a layout of the whole fair.

Entry fees to the fairgrounds are very reasonable. You can get 3-day entry to the fairgrounds for only $20 for an adult and $15 for a youth (6-18) and for a senior (55+).

Don’t miss the PARADE at 10:45am on Saturday September 9th!

Entertainment for Everyone!

Want entertainment? You got it!

If you love the one and only Elvis Presley, Adam Fitzpatrick is returning to the fair to delight everyone with his award-winning impersonations. Also back by popular demand are Dale Seaman & Hwy 97 along with ‘The Arm Chopper of Doom’.

Magician Clinton W. Gray will have your jaws dropping with his new magic routine.

Shuswap Idol is back again, showcasing the best of the region. And throughout the weekend, previous years’ Idol winners will perform their winning hits.

Plus so much more: the West Coast Lumberjack Show, the Laughing Logger, lawn tractor races, mini chuck wagon races… we could go on and on!

Country Fresh Everything!

The Shuswap in September means food! The yummiest fresh Okanagan produce will be everywhere at the Salmon Arm Fall Fair. There will be a fabulous food court and Shooting Star will have food vendors there with all the traditional fair treats you can think of. Plus you’ll see home arts and country crafts creations not likely seen anywhere else. There will be displays and competitions for baking, cooking, gardening, raising livestock, unique handiwork, home canning, spinning proficiency and many other skills.

Rides and Games!

A fair is never a fair without laugh-inducing midway games offering great prizes and exhilarating midway rides for all ages. Therefore Shooting Star will be there – OF COURSE! We wouldn’t miss it. It’s an honour to be back again.

Go Back in Time!

The 2017 Salmon Arm Fall Fair is celebrating two historic milestones: Canada’s 150th birthday and the 120th anniversary of the first Salmon Arm Fair. What better way to celebrate both of these landmarks than strolling down the fair’s Memory Lane, visiting the shops and stalls with wares of a long-ago era? Drop in on Memory Lane’s Salmon City Saloon, the Pie Shoppe, the Country Store, Spic and Span Laundry, and other shops. And to complete this time journey, see and touch farming equipment used by the area’s settlers at the amazing Shuswap Pioneer Collectors’ Club.

Fall may be around the corner, but summer-like fun is far from over at the Salmon Arm Fall Fair! Keep track of the latest via their Facebook page and ours. Hats off to everyone who takes part in this great community event! It’s most definitely something to crow about! Cock-a-doodle-doo!
