Oak Bay Tea Party – Fun in June on Vancouver Island

Oak Bay Tea Party TentThe Oak Bay Tea Party, Vancouver Island’s yearly celebration, is back again for its 53rd year! Friday June 5th through Sunday June 7th 2015 are the days to mark in your calendar. With fun for one and all, the Tea Party also supports local service organizations. So coming to this party is a way to give to the entire community.

The Oak Bay Tea Party Parade

This year’s parade is on Saturday starting at 10:30am at Windsor Park. It will take about 45 minutes and  end at Willows Park. Check out the parade map and get your viewing spot early. There will be marching bands and floats from children’s groups, community organizations and local businesses.

Shooting Star Amusements

_Blog Oak Bay Alice and the Mad HatterShooting Star Amusements will be at the Oak Bay Tea Party with dazzling rides and games. Come to Willows Park, near the intersection of Beach Drive and Dalhousie Street. It’s right on the water at Willows Beach, so it’s a spectacular location! The midway fun starts at 4pm on the Friday and then opens both Saturday and Sunday at 11am. Friday is Wristband Night – buy a wristband for unlimited rides at great discount prices, better value than buying individual ride tickets.

From the dizzying Zipper to the always loved Ferris Wheel, you can be sure that your kids (and you!) have a blast. New to the Tea Party this year is the Tilt-A-Whirl!  Shooting Star has operated in BC for decades, knows how to turn on a party, and knows how to clean up after an event so you’ll never know we were there.

There are great games for kids of all ages. From Gone Fishing to the Prize Factory, there’s hours of entertainment. Step up and try your luck!

Entertainment for All Ages

There are so many great things going on at the 2015 Oak Bay Tea Party. On Saturday, down on the water, there will be a rescue demonstration by Oak Bay’s very own Sea Rescue Society, as well as children’s activities with Recreation Oak Bay and kayak rides at the beach. There is also a great line-up of live music, concert bands, dancing and a magic act. On Sunday, there will be an air show with skydivers, the Floating Teacup Race and more live music! There will even be a Citizenship Affirmation Ceremony.

Fabulous Food

One of the highlights of the Oak Bay Tea Party is the Baron of Beef barbecued on the beach by the Tea Party Volunteers. There will also be fresh corn on the cob in the Royal Oaks Lions Club’s booth right beside the Baron of Beef. To go with it all, there’s ice cream as well.  The Kiwanis Pavilion will be open for business all weekend too!

The Capital City Lions Club will have its usual pancake breakfast on Saturday and Sunday from 7 to 11 AM.

And let’s not forget the party’s namesake… tea! Local Girl Guides will serve tea on Saturday and Sunday in the Tetley Tea Tent in Willows Park.
