Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Country Fest – BC’s Premier Country Fair

The Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Country Fest FairWhatever your plans were for July 25th and 26th 2015, cancel them! Because the annual Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Country Fest is set to roll into Albion Fairgrounds. Of all the country fairs in BC this summer, this is the one you can’t miss. There’s fun for people of all ages, especially with Shooting Star Amusement’s rides and midway.

A Family Oriented Event Promoting the Importance of Agriculture to All

The Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Agricultural Association has been working hard for 114 years to educate and involve the public in how important local agriculture is to  everyone’s lives. Their annual country fair aims to bring people together, promote local producers and artists, foster a greater sense of community, and provide wholesome entertainment for all ages.

Admission is FREE!

That’s right – no admission fee for everyone, not merely the under 5s. Daily parking costs only $2.00 – a rate that can’t be beat anywhere but in your own driveway.

Midway Games and Rides

Here’s your map to show you were the games and rides will be. Program your GPS to head to 23448 105 Avenue in Maple Ridge. The midway opens 11:00 – 9:00 on Saturday July 25th and Noon – 5:00 on the Sunday.

Main Stage Entertainment

There will be a huge range of live acts, including singers, bands, dance troupes, Latin fitness demos, Punjabi folk dancing, calypso music, Steve Elliot’s Elvis impressions, even the Ridge Meadows Got Talent competition.

This last one goes down on the 26th, with categories for 10-18 and 19 and up. So pluck up your courage and belt out your best.

So Many Awesome Attractions

It’s not possible to fit them all into one short blog. Check out the website for everything this BC country fair offers. There will be diverse attractions like sheepdog demonstrations, horse shows, a cat show, dog shows, Teen Fest, Cops For Cancer doing a Golf Ball Drop, sheep shearing, artisan demos, farming education, a blueberry festival, even ATV safety.

And when you’re thirsty, head to the beer garden for some suitable refreshment.

lyball Dog show

Dog lovers get action on both days of the Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Country Fest. Either enter your dog or enjoy watching all the canine cuties participate.

Artisan Demonstrations

For those who prefer a less hectic pace, local artists and artist associations are putting on comprehensive demonstrations. Come learn the tricks of the trade from the Ridge Meadows Quilters Guild, the Whonnock Spinners and Weavers (who use actual spinning wheels to spin the raw wool and then weave it into fabric) and local rug makers “Gone Hookin’”. They’ll be there all day both days and ready and willing to tell you anything you want to know about these intriguing crafts.

Back Yard Farming

For those with big green thumbs, local experts will be ready to help you with anything you need – mushrooms, organic gardening, even beekeeping. Come by with any inquiry and there will likely be someone who knows what you need.

Wow! If this isn’t one the best country fair in BC this summer, I’ll eat my hat. Head on down, check it out, and have a blast!
