A September to Remember – Events to End Your BC Summer Right!

salmon arm fairIt seems like it was only yesterday that the first touch of Summer was upon us. It probably feels like yesterday because of how cool the early part of BC’s 2016 Summer was. Suddenly the kids are almost back to school (Yay!) and it’s raining at the PNE (what a surprise!).

Well, the warmth of good fun is still going strong in spectacular parts of BC with the upcoming Salmon Arm Fair and Rock Creek Fall Fair. Get on the road for one more weekend away. Or two! The golf is amazing, the mouth watering fresh produce is ripening, the sunshine is still warm, the mountain vistas are amazing, the Fall colours are gorgeous, and… there are fun fairs with midways, games and mini-donuts!

Have one last Summer fling and ring in Fall properly by going to a country fair! One of them was founded almost 120 years ago, so let’s just say it’s had a lot of practice at being awesome!

Salmon Arm Fair – Sew It, Grow It, Show It

Going into its 119th year, the Salmon Arm Fair is as fun and magical  as it is dripping with rich history. A light hearted agricultural fair, the event was originally only one day, but this year September 9, 10 and the 11 will barely seem like enough to pack in all of the excitement. The Shuswap Region is pretty central for most BC residents, so pack the car now and surprise the kids!

This ideal family event takes the rich, agricultural history of British Columbia and brings its roots back to the forefront, all the while having a great party. On top of the livestock, rodeo and trick riding, there will be singing contests, Elvis impersonators and magicians. Plus…  midway rides and games, and a parade!

Celebrate the end of Summer in style. Head to the Salmon Arm Fair Grounds at the corner of 5th Ave SW and 10th Ave SW. Map here. Rock Creek Fall Fair – Proud to Be Country

If you like travelling into the BC Southern Interior, you know that Summer hasn’t ended until the Rock Creek Fall Fair has come and gone. This year’s event, entitled Proud to Be Country, will stay close to its agricultural roots while celebrating the great diversity of the area. The action hots up at the Rock Creek Fairgrounds. Bring your family and your golf clubs (seriously, the September golf around here is awesome). Shop for local wares, enjoy fresh grown fruit and veg, enjoy the agricultural markets, admire the livestock, and love every bit of the midway.

The exhibitions and competitions include a bevy of livestock competitions, live music almost all day and all night, Cancan dancers, arts, crafts, clowns, and your favourite carnival foods.

The big days are Saturday September 17th and Sunday 18th. Get information about wristband deals for all day rides here.

Summer is not gone yet! Make it a September to remember! See you soon!
