5 Things to Look Forward to at Rutland May Days!

Every spring, Rutland opens its doors and hosts the fantastic festival known as Rutland May Days. This year marks its 56th anniversary; making it Kelowna’s longest running festival.

Rutland May Days 2015 runs from Friday May 15th to Sunday May 17th. There are so many great things to  do for people of all ages. Bring the whole family. This year will include the rides and carnival games of Shooting Star Amusements for the first time.

Shooting Star Amusements Comes to Rutland May Days 2015!

Come play and ride. Shooting Star will be at Roxby Park just off of Hwy 33 on Roxby Road. Get your wristbands in advance and SAVE $10!   For only $30 you can have unlimited rides if you buy them in advance from Hollywood Shoes, Cooper’s Foods, Urban Fare or the URBA Office in Rutland.  Unlimited Ride Wristbands can be purchased onsite for $40 during May Days.

HINT:  Come to the Midway Ticket Booth before the Parade and get your wristbands – then go and enjoy the fabulous Rutland May Days Parade, then straight to the rides afterwards!

Shooting Star is well known for its wide range of cool rides, vendors and midway games. From Floating Ducks to Balloon Popping, this midway has the quintessential feel to satisfy any carnival fanatic. The rides range from Spinning Strawberries to the fabulous Ferris Wheel and all the way up to the exhilarating Zipper that spins you in two directions at once and then upside down.

You might find some of the rides a little scary, but there is something to suit everyone’s pace and taste. Shooting Star has earned a reputation for safety, quality, and company pride. It is a proudly Canadian company, employing Canadians and has been in operation around BC for many years.

Live Outdoor Entertainment

Rutland May Days always includes great live outdoor entertainment. From 6pm to 9pm on Friday May 15th it’s Bluegrass time. Saturday from 12 to 8 will feature Country and Classic Rock. Then on Sunday from 12 noon to 4 pm the entertainment is all about Kids!

Saturday’s Rutland May Days Parade!

Pipe bands, floats, and fun! The annual parade starts at 11:00am on Saturday, so get a good spot, get lined up and don’t miss out!

Important note: This year the route has changed! The parade starts at the Hartman then south on Rutland Rd and will end at Rutland Centennial Park.

Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast

Why cook breakfast on a carnival day? Instead, bring your family over to the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast before the parade! It’s running on Saturday the 16th from 8:30am right up to 10:30, only thirty minutes before the parade starts.

Community Market

Rutland’s community market runs from 8am to 2pm on Sunday May 17th. Come down and get your local produce, trinkets, artwork and souvenirs!
